You found me.

& I'm glad you did!

Here's what you need to know about me: I majored in feelings, not numbers. I became a therapist because I had been doing this work since before I left elementary school — which I say as a joke and also mean completely seriously. I wrote a book called Emotional Physics because I needed it to exist and it didn't yet. It's about why your feelings aren't chaos. They're physics. The irony of someone who majored in feelings writing a book with the word physics in the title is not lost on me. I promise.

This is where I write things that take a much less formal form than a published book. You can learn about my professional journey here too. Poke around. Read a bit. Grow your mind. Feel your feels. Be the human you were always meant to be.

Welcome.

Inside Emotional Physics

"Healing as a destination is a myth. Anyone who tells you differently is, I say this with complete clinical confidence, a scam artist."
"This book is the porch light. Not because I have all the answers. But because the light doesn't have to be perfect to be useful. It just has to be on."
"Newton looked at the apple. It fell. We got a word for gravity. It was reliable. It was orderly… and we have an equivalent of scientifically oriented brains giving us scientifically oriented words to describe in satisfying detail the world around us. This book is another tool, from someone with a significantly less scientifically oriented brain, saying: hey, all those laws work inside here too.”
"Nothing you have felt was wrong. Nothing you are carrying is evidence of failure. You are you, responding to the forces in your life. Exactly as you are meant to do."

Coming Summer 2026!

About the Blog (aka Why I Keep Writing These Things)

Here's the deal: I write when something won't leave me alone.

Sometimes it's a theme that keeps showing up in sessions—like every client that week is struggling with boundaries, or people-pleasing, or feeling like they're failing at being human. Sometimes it's what's happening in my own life (therapists are people too, shocking I know). Sometimes it's the time of year—because yes, certain months really do hit different when you're working on your mental health. And sometimes it's a response to what's happening in the larger world we all live in, mental health legit does NOT exist in a vacuum.

Whatever the topic, you'll probably find a bit of humor woven in, a social justice lens, and a focus on personal empowerment. I'm not interested in surface-level self-care advice or toxic positivity. I want to get you thinking, talking with people in your orbit, and approaching mental health from perspectives you maybe haven't considered before. My goal? Growth. Connection. And maybe—just maybe—radicalizing you toward self-compassion. (Yes, I want to radicalize you! Because treating yourself with kindness in a world that profits from your self-criticism? That's about as radical as it gets.)

Fair warning: You'll also find shameless plugs for Adams Mental Health from time to time. When we launch something new or I think our services might help you, I'm going to mention it. That's just how it is.

These posts get shared via email with our practice mailing list, I try to make social media posts for them as well, but they live here permanently. So poke around. Read what speaks to you. And if something resonates, share it with someone who needs to hear it.

When I started this practice it was just me, one office, and a whole lot of hope. As we grew, the name needed to grow with us. Adams Mental Health reflects the inclusive, collaborative practice we've become. And yes — our logo is an atom and my last name is Adams, so the pun was simply too good to pass up. But it isn't only a pun. Atoms are the building blocks of everything. The core of all that exists. It turns out that's not a bad thing to put at the center of a mental health practice.

The blog stays here. These are still my words, my voice, my perspectives — that part hasn't changed.

A note worth making: this blog is not therapy, and reading it doesn't make me your therapist. These posts are meant to inspire and educate, not substitute for actual mental health care. If you're struggling, please reach out to a licensed professional. If you're in crisis, call 988.
