To My Valued Clients,
I hope this message finds you well. Today, I am writing you not just as your therapist, but as a person who deeply cares about your mental and emotional well-being, especially in light of the challenging and often turbulent times we are living through. The decision to write this open letter comes from a place of reflection and a desire to offer additional support and reassurance. In recent days, I’ve noticed that many of you have been navigating heightened emotions—whether from societal events, political shifts, or simply the ongoing uncertainties that affect all of us. As your therapist, it is my responsibility to ensure that you feel seen, heard, and understood, and that our space together remains a refuge for processing, healing, and growth.
While our individual therapy sessions provide a space for deep, personalized work, I’ve found that I feel the need to reach out to the broader community of clients I serve, especially when I know that many of you may be experiencing similar emotional challenges. Writing this letter is my way of opening a larger dialogue, of letting you know that I’m aware of the external pressures you may be facing and reaffirming my commitment to your mental health during this time.
I understand that current events can trigger a variety of emotions. No matter where you find yourself on the emotional spectrum, I want to take a moment to reach out and remind each of you that this space—our therapeutic relationship—remains a constant source of support, no matter the external circumstances. My role as your therapist is to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can process your feelings, find grounding, and explore your thoughts without fear of invalidation. We can work together to navigate these emotions in a way that supports your mental and emotional well-being.
Please remember that the work we do together is focused on you—your needs, your experiences, and your path toward healing and growth. No matter what is happening in the larger world, you are always welcome here, and I am here to listen, to understand, and to guide you in a way that aligns with your individual journey.
If you feel the need to discuss how the election results have impacted you or simply want a space to process everything you’re experiencing, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you prefer to focus on other aspects of your life during this time, we can do that as well. Whatever feels most supportive to you is what matters!
In times of uncertainty, it is essential to have places of refuge and care. I am honored to be a part of that for each of you.
Take care of yourselves and know that you are not alone.
Warmly,
Mya L. Adams M.Ed., LPC
